Ideally, students should have an interest in all aspects of the Media. They should be eager to develop their communication skills and to broaden their existing knowledge of media theory. A willingness to work with others on a given task and to a deadline is essential.

Students can expect to have access to high quality learning resources delivered within a core lesson (teacher directed) and self-supported study where students will work independently to maintain and enhance their knowledge and understanding of Media theory. These sessions will also be used to develop student competence in production work. Student achievement in Media studies is well established and is supported by a range of excellent facilities including a digital editing suite, V Tel video conferencing system, fully equipped broadcast radio studio, 4 track recording facilities and various video cameras. Media studies is taught by specialists and is assisted by the expertise of a highly skilled audio/visual technician.
Media Studies is a useful platform for students planning to take higher-education courses in a wide range of subjects, of which just a few are: Advertising, Communication Studies, Journalism, Marketing, Media Studies, Media Technology and Public Relations. Many higher-education courses combine Media Studies with, for example, Business Studies, Management and Communication Technology. By studying this course students will gain access to a range of future career choices including Public Relations, Journalism, working in the media and / or for a media corporation.
