This highly innovative department is about to get torn apart and put back together as it undergoes a massive refit. The remodelling will be hopefully completed by the start of the new academic year 2008/2009.
The change will allow for a much wider range of subjects to be added to the curriculum in a purpose built environment. As more information about how the department is going to change becomes available we will publish it here. | read more »

A new laser cutting machine has revolutionised Design Technology at Brooke Weston. The machine has proved really popular with students who send their computer aided design work straight to the cutter to be produced. The Year 7s have been designing badges and keyrings while the Year 11 students have made larger point of sale display stands. The machine, which can both cut and etch wood and plastic is so fast it can cut small keyring designs in around 20 seconds.
Head of DT, Miss Quinlivan said: ‘It has revolutionised how we work. The machine is quick, the students get to see the results straight away so they get a greater sense of achievement. My Year 7 group have loved it and the Year 11s have been using it extensively and they have produced some stunning work as well.’
