Different perspectives on life at Brooke Weston
Longer than a tweet, shorter than an essay, here's your chance to contribute to Brooke Weston's new blogging section. It will give you a more informal look at the day-to-day life here and we hope people will blog on a range of subjects. We've already signed up these bloggers and are looking for more.
The BW Factor Blog is up a running, Mr Bidwell will be blogging the upcoming talent show held at the Academy.
The Music Blog is up a running, Mr Duguid will be blogging about the exciting times to come in the new Media Centre.
The Newman Library has started blogging so you can be informed about the events, trips, visits, book group activities, competitions and book reviews that happen in the Library throughout the year.
Lauren Butler is blogging about her journey into higher education. Lauren will write about her UCAS experiences and her application to Oxford University to study History. Lauren's experiences are sure to be of interest to anyone going through, or about to go through the same process.
Lizzy Downey is blogging about being a member of the Brooke Weston Choir. It's not just singing, Lizzy says the choir has helped her grow in confidence since joining as a shy Year 7.
So far Sophia Haden has written about her experiences as a 'new' Sixth Former, everything from bus-stop etiquette, first day nerves, homework and illness is covered and she's a seasoned writer, already posting regularly on blogger.com. Her wry observations and chatty writing style make for must-read material.
William Downey is an old hand at Brooke Weston, but he's new to blogging. His first piece reflects on how quickly the time has passed. He and a team of others are collating the Year 13 Yearbook, which means sifting through hundreds of photos and memorabilia from the past six and a half years and putting them into a readable format with student profiles and comments. It's a mammoth task and he's going to blog about how it's all going.
If you think you've got something worthwhile or unusual to blog about and want to regularly commit to updating your blog then please get in touch. It must be about some aspect of life here that will interest other students or staff members.
Here's some of the bloggers we're looking for, though feel free to come up with your own suggestions:
