Chef Adam Sonn raised about £1,000 in sponsorship after completing the Great North Run. It was the first time that Adam had raced in a half-marathon and he's already signed up for next year's event. He spent hours training for the gruelling 13 mile run around Newcastle, which was even harder than he had anticipated.
Adam said: 'The first eight miles was straight uphill! I was all right until I hit ten miles and that was when I started to get a bit tired. I found the last three miles extremely hard. The atmosphere was lively, there was a lot of support and everyone was pushing each other along, especially towards the end.'
He completed the distance in just two hours and five minutes and is now collecting the sponsorship money pledged by staff and students. If you have sponsored Adam, who ran to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Society, or else want to contribute now, then please hand your money in to Adam or the restaurant as soon as possible.
