Christmas lunch festivities

Brooke Weston’s Principal, Mr Peter Kirkbride and Director of Education Miss Trish Stringer have been getting into the festive spirit by helping the restaurant team serve more than 1,100 turkey dinners over the past two days, donning Christmas hats and attire to dish out the festive fare.

The Senior Leader team, Mr Simon Underwood, Mrs Nina Smith, Miss Rebecca Waterson, Mr Shaun Strydom and Mrs Angeline Annabel also joined in helping to seat students and staff and hand out cutlery.

Mr Kirkbride and Miss Stringer helped to serve more than 42 turkeys, 90kg of baton carrots, 160kg of roast potatoes and 20 Yule logs over the two days. Mr Kirkbride said, ‘Christmas is such a special time at Brooke Weston Academy. Our fantastic restaurant team turn the restaurant into a Christmas Wonderland and provide the most amazing Christmas lunch with all the trimmings! It’s a real privilege for me to serve the staff and students their Christmas lunch and wish them a Merry Christmas after a term of hard work at Brooke Weston.’

Miss Stringer, who is set to retire at the end of term after 27 Years of service to the Trust, has served Christmas lunch to students and staff at Brooke Weston for more than 15 years. She said, ‘Brooke Weston Christmas lunches are an integral part of our Christmas celebrations each year and one of my most fondest memories that I will take with me. The entire restaurant team always make such a fantastic effort, not only with the delicious food that they prepare but also by decorating the restaurant and making it so special for all of the students. I have loved working alongside them over the years and it will certainly be a tradition that I will miss.’
