Sixth Formers attend higher education exhibition at Bedfordshire University

The whole of Year 12 and their tutors visited Bedfordshire University this week to attend a UCAS exhibition to explore the wide range of opportunities available after school or college, under one setting.

Representatives were there from all different universities and alternative options including; The National Apprenticeship Service, The Army, The Royal Navy and information on taking a gap year. There were also lots of talks and seminars run by the University on various courses they might want to do at degree level, such as Midwifery and Law and advice on student life and how to write a personal statement. Tours of the campus and a visit to the student accommodation were also available.

Head of Sixth Form Mrs Nina Smith said ‘The day was extremely informative and valuable for the students to be able to gain so much advice and information all under one roof rather than travel to each university individually was fantastic. They had a lot of questions that they were able to get answered so it was a successful day.’

Year 12 student Matthew Ford said ‘I really enjoyed the day because it was informative and meant you could learn a lot about different universities up and down the country. I was interested in the maths courses that were available at certain universities, so I picked up a few prospectuses and talked to them about their courses. It was useful as they gave me advice about the entry requirements and also taking an additional maths paper that they said would be beneficial. It was interesting to see show the campus works and how close the accommodation is to your lectures in comparison to a city university.’
