BW and CTS students collaborate in theatrical workshop

Students are incorporating techniques they learned in a theatrical workshop into practical work for their GCSE coursework. Students from Brooke Weston and Corby Technical School had a workshop with renowned theatre group Frantic Assembly.

Drama teacher Miss Kerr said: ‘Frantic Assembly are a home grown international performance company. Their founders were originally from Corby and they created the group after going to university. Their work is brilliant and their most famous piece is when they created the movement for the hit show ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time.'

‘One of their teachers did a workshop with Year 10 and 13 students creating devised performances. They started doing warm ups, then learned about lifting techniques and how to hold each other safely before creating performance pieces. They are putting some of the techniques into their finished GCSE performance pieces. It is the first time we have had a shared workshop with Corby Technical School and it was lovely to have their students here. It gave our students the opportunity to work with different people and develop new ideas and confidence.’
