Update on GCSE, AS and A level exams 2021

BTEC and OCR National Examinations

Dear Parents and Students,

We continue to run all scheduled public examinations as published in the timetable for January. We feel it is important to give everyone who wishes to sit the examinations the opportunity to do so. However we also fully understand that for some students this may not be your preferred option now. We can confirm that Ofqual have issued assurances that alternative arrangements will be made for awarding grades to you if you choose not to take them this month.

If you have any further questions or concerns before making up your mind whether to take your examination, please contact us as soon as possible and we’ll be happy to talk things through with you.

Exam Update 06-01-2021

Dear Students and Parents,

Gavin Williamson, the Education Secretary, confirmed in the House of Commons today that GCSE, AS and A-level exams will not go ahead this year. He said he wished 'to use a form of teacher assessment grades, with training and support provided to ensure these are awarded fairly and consistently across the country'.

Mr Williamson advised that Ofqual will launch a 'detailed' consultation on the plans next week and it will run for two weeks.

As soon as we have further information regarding what this means for you, we will of course advise and work with you. It is extremely important that you continue to engage with your lessons.

For our students studying for vocational qualifications, you should attend public examinations as planned. Again, it is extremely important you continue to engage with your lessons.

To all of our students, we would like to stress we continue to be here for you, to help you and support you. Please do speak to us if you are feeling anxious or in need of additional support.
