Student Secures Sutton Trust Summer School Placement

Year 12 student, Dean Ruthven, has been successful in securing a place on the Classics, Film and TV and History of Art, online Sutton Trust Summer School, which is running from 2-6 August and is being hosted by the University of Warwick. Dean will experience what it would be like to study these subjects at Warwick, and will also see how knowledge of Classics is an important basis for getting to grips with other subjects.

Dean said, ‘I am overjoyed at being offered this opportunity, which will have a long lasting impact. I believe this course will be beneficial to me in expanding my knowledge of film and TV. It will also be valuable evidence to use in my personal statement whilst simultaneously preparing me for what university requires.’

Brooke Weston Post-16 Co-Curricular Coordinator, Mrs Hegarty, said, ‘This is a fantastic opportunity for Dean and it will undoubtedly help inform his choices for university courses. This year competition for places on the Sutton Trust Summer Schools Programme has been greater than previous years, due to the impact of Covid-19, so we are absolutely thrilled that Dean has been offered a place.’
