Moore Accountants Give BWA Students An Insight Into Apprenticeships

Brooke Weston Academy were delighted to host a visit from Moore Accountants in Corby, who spoke to our Year 11, 12 and 13 students about the fantastic opportunities available in accountancy apprenticeships, as part of National Apprenticeship Week.

An apprenticeship is a paid job where the employee earns while they learn. Alongside on-the-job training, apprentices spend at least 20% of their working hours completing classroom-based learning with a college, university or training provider which leads to a nationally recognised qualification.

Moore Accountants Corby Director, Natalie Ellis; Associate, Jen Barber and Tax and Accounts Senior, Chloe Hickman, delivered an informative presentation highlighting the benefits of undertaking an Accountancy Apprenticeship at post-16 or post-18. Students took part in an exercise on debit and credit payments and engaged in a Q & A session with the potential employers.

BWA Careers Leader, Helen Featherstone, said, ‘We are grateful to Moore for giving up their time to show what excellent opportunities exist for students who want to follow the apprenticeship routes. Entry requirements for this company are 5 GCSEs Grades 4-8 including English and Maths at Grade 6 or two A levels. The firm get lots of CV’s sent to them but those who stand out are the people who show enthusiasm to work in accountancy and finance and those who can evidence good work ethic demonstrated by having a part time job.’

BWA students wishing to apply for an apprenticeship are welcome to book an appointment with Helen hfeatherstone@brookeweston.org to find out more about local and national vacancies as well as receiving support with their applications.
