Students Fundraise For Hearts on Valentine’s Day

Well done to Brooke Weston Academy Year 13 students Adwoa Abeka and Nicole Mutengo who decided to organise a fundraising event to coincide with Valentine's Day to help raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.

They set up a rose delivery service for the sixth form students to purchase a rose, write an accompanying message, and then have it hand-delivered; anonymously if they wished, to their would-be Valentine, with the proceeds going to BHF. A total of £89.05 was donated to BHF which will help to fund much needed research, provide information, support and care for heart patients and their families.

Adwoa said, ‘It was something we had mentioned to friends that it would be cool to do and then we later realised it was something we could actually carry out. We wanted to donate to charity as we thought it would be good for the sixth form to come together for some type of fundraiser, as we haven't really had the opportunity to do so yet. We chose to donate to the British Heart Foundation as we felt it would match the theme of Valentine's Day best.’
