PE Teacher Takes on Fundraising Running Challenge

Head of PE, Ryan Walsh, is running 5km every day in November to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK

In a bid to raise vital funds for Prostate Cancer UK, Ryan Walsh, Head of PE at Brooke Weston Academy, has taken up the challenge to run 5K every day in November. Prostate Cancer UK is a registered charity that has one simple ambition – to stop men dying from prostate cancer by shifting the science over the next ten years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support. The money raised will fund research for life-saving treatments and provide practical support to men and their families affected by prostate cancer.

Ryan, who completed the challenge last year said, ‘Once again me and my fellow PE teachers; five teachers across five schools, are going to be doing 5km every day in November to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK. There are around 52,300 new prostate cancer cases in the UK every year, which is more than 140 every day! Some form of cancer will affect one in two people in their lifetime. This is something that the team and I have directly been affected by on more than one occasion and we want to do our bit for all forms of Cancer Research. Any donations that you can make would be greatly appreciated, no matter how big or small, every penny goes a long way!’

Thank you to everyone who has already sponsored Ryan.  If you would like to donate, please use the Just Giving link.
