Year 12 students gain Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety qualification
Well done to our first cohort of Year 12 IEC students who received certificates for successfully completing their Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety for Catering qualification.
Evie Sharman, Leona Matika, and Michelle Mwarewangepo completed the qualification during their Food, Nutrition and Hygiene course as part of the IEC programme at Brooke Weston Academy.
Michelle said, ‘I really enjoyed both the practical and theoretical sides of the course, and it was great to get a qualification at the end of it and I feel confident now in my food hygiene knowledge. As well as completing the qualification I also learnt about food budgeting, food staples for university life and about considering the nutritional value of the foods we make and eat.’
Head of DT, Natasha Chiremba, said ‘The students worked hard to complete this qualification, working through the modules, and completing the assessment. In addition to this, students also completed several food related MOOCs, researched, and presented a variety of nutrition topics and learnt about food budgeting and cooked some budget-friendly recipes.’
