BWA marks Children’s Mental Health Week 2025– ‘Know Yourself, Grow Yourself’
Brooke Weston Academy celebrated Children’s Mental Health Week 2025 with a series of engaging and supportive wellbeing events, all around this year’s theme: ‘Know Yourself, Grow Yourself’. The week was filled with activities designed to promote mental health awareness and provide students with tools to manage stress and enhance their overall wellbeing.
Each morning before the start of the school day, students gathered in the Dance Studio to participate in various calming wellbeing activities, setting a positive tone for the rest of the day.
- Monday: Calming stretches
- Tuesday: Guided breathing and meditation
- Wednesday: Yoga
- Thursday: Tai Chi
- Friday: Calming stretches
In addition to the morning activities, a ‘Positivitree’ display was set up outside the school restaurant. This display featured positive affirmations and uplifting messages written by students, reinforcing the theme of self-awareness and personal growth. The 'Positivitree' served as a visual reminder of the power of positive thinking and the importance of mental health.
Throughout the week, students engaged in various activities during tutor time, all designed to foster self-awareness and emotional resilience. These activities provided students with practical strategies to manage their mental health and support their peers.
The Sixth Form students had the opportunity to attend a special session on coping with exam stress and planning for their future careers. This insightful session was led by former BWA student Alice Davies and former Head Student Jack-Brent Thomas. They shared their experiences and offered valuable advice on managing stress and navigating the next steps after school.
