Students from Brooke Weston Academy made and decorated gingerbread houses with an emphasis on ‘healthy’ decorations. Five students from Year 9 took part as they were the winners of a healthy eating burger competition and selected students from Year 7 were also invited to take part.
Brooke Weston’s Principal, Mr Peter Kirkbride and Director of Education Miss Trish Stringer have been getting into the festive spirit by helping the restaurant team serve more than 1,100 turkey dinners over the past two days, donning Christmas hats and attire to dish out the festive fare.
Year 10 student Matthew Brown has been awarded Sportsman of the Year, All Round Cadet of the Year and promoted from Cadet to Corporal at his local Royal Air Force Air Cadets 1101 Kettering and District squadron.
Miss Trish Stringer, Director of Education for the Brooke Weston Trust, is retiring after 33 years in the profession, 27 of which have been with the Trust. Her determination to put students at the heart of all decision making is an approach which has served her well throughout her career.

Tickets for this year’s annual Christmas Showcase will go on sale from the finance office on Friday 1 December with an extra night added due to popular demand.
Students in Years 7 and 8 were visited by Damian Dibben the Internationally acclaimed author of the adventure series ‘The History Keepers’ where he spoke to students about his career and hosted some creative workshops.
