  • Mr Chambers launches Young Game Designers competition in London on behalf of BAFTA

    IT teacher Ray Chambers was invited to attend the BETT education show to launch the 2017 Young Game Designers competition on behalf of BAFTA - British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

    Ray who previously won the Young Game Designers for mentoring students in coding was asked by BAFTA to assist them with the content of this years YGD and launched the competition nationally with The Gadget Show’s Jason Bradbury.

    BAFTA is the leading British charity that supports, promotes and develops the film, television and games industry. YGD gives an insight into the gaming world as well the chance to win once-in-a-lifetime experiences with top game makers through their annual competition.

  • Brooke Weston teacher shortlisted for $1m global education award

    Brooke Weston computer science teacher Ray Chambers has been named as one of four UK teachers to be included in the top 50 shortlist for the Varkey Foundation Global Teacher Prize 2017. Now in its third year, the US $1 million award is the largest prize of its kind.

  • BW Prizegiving 2016

    Intrepid explorer and adventurer George Bullard was the guest of honour at our 2016 Prizegiving where he spoke about his latest adventure, kayaking thousands of miles from Greenland to Scotland.

    He and fellow explorer Ollie Hicks paddled 1500 miles from Greenland and ended up 66 days later (and just a fortnight ago) on the beach at Balnakiel Bay on the north of Scotland. They travelled via Iceland and the Faroes and navigated the dreaded Devil’s Dancefloor before becoming marooned on North Rona for a week, surviving on rainwater and wildlife including limpets and sea birds.

  • Mr Chambers accredited as Microsoft Innovative Expert Educator

    IT Teacher Ray Chambers has been accredited as a Microsoft Innovative Expert Educator so he will network with other teachers in the area and share best practice.

    Microsoft said: ‘MIEs are educators that are using Microsoft tools in the classroom and have learned the fundamentals of some of these tools. This is the first step on a journey of joining a professional learning network of enthusiastic educators who come together to learn, share and grow.’
