Celebrating student voices: Students receive special ‘Class of 2025’ t-shirts

Brooke Weston Academy is proud to celebrate the achievements of our Year 9 and 10 students who recently took part in the final session of the Young Person’s Advisory Council ‘Truth from the Youth’ for this academic year. Organised by the North Northants Information, Advice and Support Service (IASS), this initiative empowers young people with SEND to share their voices and shape the services that support them.

Throughout the year, our students have shown outstanding commitment, attending every session and actively contributing to discussions and activities. As a reward for their dedication, each student received a special ‘Class of 2025’ t-shirt and a certificate of participation.

During the final session, students engaged in a variety of meaningful and fun activities, including:

  • SEND IASS Website Testing
Students explored the soon-to-be-launched website, offering valuable feedback to improve accessibility and user experience.
  • Movement Breaks
Interactive games helping to keep energy levels high and minds sharp throughout the day.
  • Assembly Initiative Planning
Students brainstormed ideas, including potential interviewees and key messages to share.
  • Congratulations Ceremony
A moment to celebrate everyone’s contributions. Our students were especially recognised for their full-year attendance.
  • Reflection Time
Students shared their thoughts on the year’s journey, highlighting what they’ve learned and enjoyed most.

What our students said:

‘We learnt great teamwork, mixed with students from other schools, and made new friends.’

‘I really enjoyed doing team building over the last year of trips.’

‘We’ve all learnt what Truth from the Youth is all about and enjoyed the projects we’ve done, like designing the logos they’ve used for their branding.’

SEND Teaching Assistant Mr English, who organised the event and oversees the trips and careers for the SEND team at BWA said, ‘We are incredibly proud of our students for representing BWA with such enthusiasm and maturity. Their voices are helping shape a better future for young people with SEND across North Northamptonshire.’

Well done, Class of 2025 – you’ve made your voices heard!
