BWA Governor completes Land's End to John O'Groats cycle challenge

Mr Marcus Learoyd, a Governor at Brooke Weston Academy, has successfully completed the Land's End to John O' Groats cycle ride to raise thousands of pounds for charity.

He and a friend underwent the mammoth venture over nine days, averaging around 105 miles per day to complete the 960-mile route. The most gruelling day was day 7 when they completed 126 miles between Hamilton and Fort William, a route that involved ascents of over 6,000ft!

Marcus said: 'I'm not into cycling, in fact my last bike was my Raleigh Chopper aged 14, but as I have had a significant birthday this year I wanted to take on a proper challenge and this seemed like a good idea at the time. I also wanted to raise some money for the MS charity as a close friend of mine has it. It was awful and brilliant in equal measure. Nine hours a day in the saddle certainly took its toll but it’s all been worth it. I think I shall just grow older gracefully now and no more challenges!’

If anyone wants to donate to Marcus's charity total then please do so via the link.
