Silver Arts Award

Sixth Formers showcase ambition and aspiration in Silver Arts Award

Well done to Year 12 students Jayson Bindura, Deanne Quaye, and Naythen Falusi for their outstanding achievement in organising and performing a piano piece as part of the Leadership component of their Silver Arts Award. This accomplishment required them to plan meticulously, coordinate with staff in the Performing Arts and the Sixth Form team, and manage the logistics of the event.

Year 12 student Olivia Hammond is also completing the Silver Arts Award. In the first unit, Olivia worked on developing her own drawing skills, and for unit 2, the leadership element of the award, Olivia has been working with a group of Year 7 students. Olivia is taking them through the basics of art and meets with them during tutor time every other week. Olivia designs and delivers every session and has covered areas including anatomy and colour theory with the group.

The Silver Arts Award is an integral part of the Sixth Form IEC programme at Brooke Weston Academy, which Jayson, Deanne, Naythen and Olivia embarked on in September 2024. This prestigious qualification not only includes the Leadership unit but also encourages students to explore various pathways and careers in the arts, develop their own artistic skills, and critically evaluate the art events they attend.

Congratulations to Jayson, Deanne, Naythen and Olivia for their inspiring performance and leadership! Through their dedication and hard work, they have demonstrated the true spirit of ambition and aspiration, setting a remarkable example for their peers.
