Carnegie Book Club Elective Competition Winners

BWA Carnegie Shadowing Group announced as winners of ALCS poster competition!

We are thrilled to announce that the Brooke Weston Book Busters Carnegie Shadowing Group has been crowned the winner of the 2025 ALCS Poster Competition, a national contest run by the Authors’ Licensing and Collecting Society (ALCS).

The Carnegie Shadowing Scheme is a nationwide initiative that encourages young people to engage with the books shortlisted for the Carnegie Medals, celebrating outstanding writing and illustration in children’s literature.

Students taking part in shadowing the awards this year were members of the Book Club Elective in Term 4 and were challenged to design a poster that celebrates and captures the power of reading, inspired by the 2025 shortlisted titles. Their winning poster stood out amongst entries from across the country and will be proudly displayed at the Carnegie Awards Ceremony at the Cambridge Theatre in London on Thursday 19th June. As part of their prize, BWA will also receive £1,000 to support and enrich our school library.

Head of English, Miss Liquorish, said, ‘I am absolutely thrilled for our Year 7 Book Club Elective students. Special congratulations to Adriana Rusu, our incredibly talented lead designer, along with Cara Grace and Nicol Lapeta, for their outstanding work on the winning Carnegie poster. Well done!’

Librarian, Mrs Mann, said, ‘I am incredibly proud of our Brooke Weston Book Busters Shadowing Group. Their creativity and teamwork truly shone through in their winning poster, bringing their ideas to life in such a powerful way. Well done, Book Busters—you’ve inspired us all!’
