Students in Years 7 and 8 were visited by Damian Dibben the Internationally acclaimed author of the adventure series ‘The History Keepers’ where he spoke to students about his career and hosted some creative workshops.

Former Brooke Weston teacher Tamsin Winter spoke to students about her first novel ‘Being Miss Nobody’ which deals with anxiety and mental health issues. Tamsin, who trained as a teacher at Brooke Weston and taught English here until leaving in 2005 always wanted to write and now she is doing author visits and working on her second novel.
Students at Brooke Weston were fortunate to be able to Skype with award winning author of ‘Salt to the Sea’ Ruta Sepetys, where they were able to ask questions about her book and life as an author.
Congratulations to Year 7 students Matthew Russell, Anna Bredenkamp and Finlay Short who won prizes for their written book reviews on titles they chose from the Bookbuzz programme at Christmas.
Award winning children’s author Katie Dale visited the academy this week to help students develop their writing skills and discuss how to become an author.
This week sees the launch of Brooke Weston’s sponsored ‘Readathon’ for all lower school students to help raise money for children’s hospitals across the UK.
