A group of Year 9 textiles students are making individual ‘fidget blankets’ for people with dementia at a local care home.
Explorer Conrad Dickinson was Guest of Honour at Brooke Weston Academy’s Prize Giving 2018. He spoke about how his early adventures led to both Arctic and Antarctic expeditions and he has achieved the ‘Polar Trilogy’, travelling unsupported to both North and South poles and travelling across Siberia. He encouraged our students to aim high and gave them valuable life lessons during his inspirational presentation.
More than 50 students saw butchery skills in preparation for their Year 9 food and nutrition course. James Edwards from Stilton Catering Butchers jointed chickens and showed them ways of producing burgers, to prepare them for a gourmet burger competition where they have to formulate their own flavourings.
A group of GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition students explored a street food market and visited the Scoop ice cream exhibition at The British Museum of Food on a recent trip.
Congratulations to our Year 9 student Stanley Evans who has won his first British title in the recent British Solo Ice Dance Championships.

Students have been presenting innovative ideas to senior leaders at Brooke Weston Academy, in order to promote road safety as part of the County Schools Challenge, a ‘Dragons’ Den’ style competition run by Northants Police and Fire service.
Well done to our Year 9 students who were placed fifth out of 28 teams in the regional heats of the PIXL ‘Up for Debate’ competition, the first event of its kind they had competed in.
Students from Brooke Weston Academy are shadowing the Carnegie and Greenaway book awards, reading and comparing the 15 shortlisted titles and taking part in an event with other schools in June.
Congratulations to three Brooke Weston students Daisy (Year 8), Joe (Year 9) and Max Oram (Year 10) who competed with Youth Brass 2000 (YB2K) in the British Open Youth Contest in Lancashire and came away as the British Youth Champions 2018.
