Warhammer Schools Alliance Final

Year 7 student takes first place at the Warhammer Schools Final competition

Congratulations to Year 7 Dylan Maddams who was crowned the Warhammer Age of Sigmar National Schools champion when he represented Brook Weston Academy at Warhammer World in Nottingham.

Warhammer is one of the world’s most popular miniatures games, and players can choose from hundreds of models to collect, build and paint. They can dive into immersive sci-fi and fantasy worlds, create an army, and clash in a table-top battle against their friends.

The Warhammer Alliance is a network of teachers and youth leaders who use the hobby of Warhammer to nurture skills in young people with aim to provide the tools to support group learning in mathematics, engineering, literacy, art and design, and the acquisition of life skills via building, gaming and reading.

Dylan was up against some of the top players and painters across the country and was shortlisted for the best-painted army, chosen by professional painters from Games Workshop, and battled against 64 opponents from other schools to be crowned the Warhammer Age of Sigmar National Alliance Schools champion!

Dylan said, ‘Warhammer is a fun hobby that I have enjoyed since I first discovered it at the age of six. It was a great experience taking part in the competition, and I was not expecting to win, so it felt amazing when I found out I had won. I would like to thank Mr Gunstone for running the Warhammer elective as it certainly helped me develop as a player.’
