Student Scholarship Success

Year 11 student is awarded highly prized Academic Scholarship at Oundle School

Congratulations to George Salaman (Y11) who has secured a 16+ Academic Scholarship to study A-Levels in the Sixth Form at the prestigious Oundle School, one of Britain’s leading co-educational boarding and day schools.

George said, ‘I attended an Open Day at the school in September as I knew that they taught the A-Level Classics as part of their curriculum, which is a subject I really wanted to study. The campus was beautiful, and I felt like it was somewhere that I would fit in well.

I had to apply online with my GCSE grade predictions and write about any extra-curricular activities I take part in as well as writing an essay on why I thought I would be a good fit for the school. I was then invited to take part in an ‘exam weekend’ which involved staying at the school for the weekend and sitting three exams in English, History and Logic as well as attending several interviews. It was a very long weekend, but I was thrilled when I received an email to say that I was being offered an Academic Scholarship, I was the first to be admitted into the Sixth Form as an academic scholar in two years!

I will be sad to leave Brooke Weston at the end of Year 11 and it’s thanks to the dedication of the amazing teaching staff here that I have been able to achieve this amazing opportunity at Oundle School.’
