Year 13 attend presentation about the practicalities of student finance

We were delighted to welcome Dr Tom Drewitt-Wex, from Oxford Brookes University, to Brooke Weston Academy to talk to our Year 13 cohort about the practicalities of student finance and budgeting for university.

He covered all aspects of student finance including tuition fees, student loans, maintenance loans, how and when to apply for a loan and how loan repayments work. He also explored other funding available to students in the form of bursaries and scholarships that give additional help to students who may need it or who have shown promise in certain areas.

Post 16 Co-Curriculum Co-Ordinator Louise Hegarty, said, ‘The session was very informative and Tom also shared some useful weblinks and money management APPs that are available for Year 13 to access in their Teams folder.’
