Sporting success for siblings Harlee and Keris

Congratulations to Brooke Weston Academy students Harlee Hooker Y9 and Keris Hooker Y10, who have both been successful in securing medals at the Watford Open Nationals kick boxing competition.

Harlee won a gold medal in the Junior Fighter award category and was crowned the Watford National Champion in light continuous in kickboxing, with Keris taking two bronze medals after recently stepping up a level to junior ladies, competing against 16-18 year olds.

Both also had success at their first Interclub competition for the Hicks Elite Athletics team, with Keris winning two gold medals and Harlee taking one gold medal.

As well as kick boxing, Harlee is also a keen runner and recently represented the county, Northants Athletics, at the Anglican Schools Cross Country Championships at Burghley Park, coming 6th and qualifying for the English Schools Cross Country Championships in March.

Harlee said, ‘I train very hard and put in lots of work, but I enjoy competing, and it is great when all the hard work pays off.’

Keris said, ‘I have found it tough moving up a level and competing against older girls, but confidence is key and the more competitions I take part in, then the more confidence it will give me going forward.’
