Year 8 student selected to play cricket for Northamptonshire County Cricket Club
Well done to Year 8 Brooke Weston Academy student Lilly Page, who has been selected to play county level cricket for Northamptonshire.
Lilly, who also plays at club level for Great Oakley Cricket Club (GOCC), was put forward by the club to attend trials in Oundle and Northampton to play at county level for U12 girls.
Lilly said, ‘I got involved with cricket when I was three, as my father plays. I then joined the All Stars Cricket Club at Great Oakley, but now I play in U13s, U15s girls and U12’s county cricket. To play for the county, I had to attend two trials and was then sent to another set of six trials! I was really excited when I found out I had got in. I am a keeper and a batter, but I field and bowl occasionally. I train every Friday with GOCC and every Saturday or Sunday with the county team. My heroes are Alex Carey (Australian keeper), Ben Stokes (English captain) and Quinton de Kock (South African keeper) and I would love to play internationally, specifically in the Ashes.’
