Students take part in teaching French and Spanish to primary school children
Brooke Weston Academy Language Leaders in Years 7-9 visited Oakley Vale Primary school to teach French and Spanish language lessons to KS2 as part of their Language Leader award accreditation.
The Foreign Language Leader award helps develop student leadership skills and interest in Modern Foreign Languages. Students gain a tremendous amount of satisfaction and confidence from sharing what they know with others and retain the knowledge they teach actively to others far more effectively.
Three groups of Language Leaders taught three different KS2 classes for 15 minutes each on topics which included animals, colours, clothes and family members. Following this, they took students out in small groups for further activities and worksheets.
Careers Lead and Teacher of MFL, Amber Colquhoun said, ‘We are extremely proud of our BWA Language Leaders, and we look forward to taking the second groups in September.’
