A group of Year 7 students visited the home of Leicester Tigers to watch them claim a victory against Gloucester Rugby in their defence of the Anglo-Welsh cup title.

The clubs were meeting for the 220th time in more than 125 years of rivalry, and with Gloucester ahead by 106 to 105 in terms of wins ahead of kick-off it was an extremely tense and exciting game which came down to the last few seconds of the game and saw the Tigers secure the winning point 26-24.

More than 28,000 people filled the stadium and the students enjoyed being able to watch a fast paced intense rugby match as well as receiving autographs from players, meeting the team mascot and stopping off for fish and chips before the game started.

P.E. teacher Mr Matthew Clasper said ‘It was a fantastic experience for the boys and they all thoroughly enjoyed it. For some of them it was their first experience at a live sports fixture or a live top level rugby match and as the games was so close and tense it was awesome to watch. They all behaved impeccably and it was great to see them show such an interest and understanding in the game of rugby.’
