Students ‘raise their voices’ during spectacular musical performance!
Well done to our students at Brooke Weston Academy who, after months of dancing, singing and acting rehearsals, put all nerves behind them to pull off two spectacular performances of Sister Act The Musical.
Sister Act follows the journey of disco diva Deloris Van Cartier, whose life takes an unexpected turn when she witnesses a crime. Placed into protective custody—hidden in the one place she never expected… a convent! As she helps the struggling choir find their voices, Deloris embarks on a journey of self-discovery, friendship, and faith, proving that music has the power to bring people together.
With a fantastic cast, including Shayne Mbangweta as Deloris, Andie Cameron as Mother Superior, Ciaran Hughes as Monsignor O’Hara and Harry Sauntson as 'Sweaty' Eddie, the show was an unforgettable experience for all. There were several big song-and-dance numbers with the energy and passion of all the cast and ensemble shining through in their performances.
A huge thank you to the BWA Performing Arts team who worked tirelessly on putting the performance together: Director Mrs Hine and English teacher Miss Stevens; Choreographer Dawn Willis-Lovelock, and Vocal Director Sophie Jackson.
The success of the musical also involved a huge number of people who went above and beyond to support the show, including Musical Director Mr Lovelock, the musicians, lighting and sound technicians, the Buildings Team, those helping backstage and all the staff who lent a hand on the night of the performances.
The production of Sister Act The Musical is a shining example of how our students embody the Brooke Weston values, showcasing their talents and dedication to producing something truly special and creating unforgettable memories.
