The School Games, funded by Sport England and delivered by the Youth Sport Trust, is a government led programme designed to deliver competitive school sport to all young people. The National Finals is an annual four day multi-sport event held at Loughborough University which aims to re-enforce the experience of the Olympic and Paralympic Games complete with an Opening Ceremony and an Athletes Village.

Brooke Weston were one of only 10 schools from across the country that were selected to take part and volunteer at the event having been selected from a detailed application process where they needed to explain why they wanted to attend, what they could offer and how they could bring back the key core values, such as self-belief back into school.

The Year 11 girls were then chosen based on their effort in PE lessons and their dedication to extra-curricular activities along with their hours of dedication to different sporting events, such as the level 3 Sainsbury School Games where they officiated the volleyball.

PE teachers Miss Barber and Miss Marsh said, ‘The girls were an absolute credit to the school, they demonstrated outstanding leadership skills as well as many of the core values that the Youth Sport Trust promote such as self-belief, teamwork and determination.’
