Students creates ingenious cake trench for history competition

Year 8 student William Farnsworth Coombs built an ingenious WWI trench from cake and won a Year 8 history competition in the process.

A group of Year 8 students were challenged to come up with an accurate trench model as part of their homework and Principal Pete Kirkbride and Senior Vice Principal Shaun Strydom judged the results.

Teacher Ms Adelle Northern said: ‘The class showed amazing creativity and, for the most part, historical accuracy in their designs and with William’s edible cake I think we have a Bake-Off star in the making! Well done also to Victoria Tysoe who was awarded second place and Matthew Church and Edward Denis who were placed third in the hard-fought competition.’
