The science department is running a series of practical revision sessions after school to help Year 11 students prepare for their exams.
Six laboratories were set up with around 24 core practical experiments that the students have worked on over the past three years. It gave them the opportunity to revise methods and think about potential exam questions linked to each experiment.
Student Rajan Khunti said: 'The session was really informative and has improved my confidence for the exam.’ India Bond added: ‘It was very helpful and I am looking forward to attending the next two sessions.’
Head of Biology Tara Kimberley said: ‘There was a great buzz with students reflecting on their previous practical work. They asked many questions on how they could improve their exam responses.’
Dan Hawksley, Head of Science, said: ‘This is the first time we have offered an after school run-through of all the practicals that the Year 11s will need to be able to talk about in their exams. The turnout was excellent, and the students were really engaged in their work. There were a lot of very good conversations around each practical and it bodes well for the success of the students in their summer exams. I’m looking forward to continuing the sessions over the next two weeks.’
