Design a Aldi Lorry Competition

Students in Year 7 and 8 at Brooke Weston Academy were challenged to get creative and design an Aldi lorry that celebrates everything great about fresh, healthy food. The competition was launched to celebrate Tokyo 2020 in collaboration with Team GB and Aldi’s ‘Get Set to Eat Fresh’ programme which inspires students to cook and eat healthy, fresh food.

Natasha Chiremba, Head of DT at Brooke Weston, said ‘Our students have really enjoyed taking part and all Year 7 and 8 tutor groups had a go in a lesson and completed at home. We judged them in school first and have prizes for those we entered. Students were able to think carefully about communicating designs, understanding the importance of fresh healthy food and about meeting a brief.’

Two lucky winners, who will be announced in the autumn term, will see their winning designs showcased on an Aldi 13.6 metre-long lorry, driving their celebration of healthy foods up and down the country. They will also win £1,000 of Aldi vouchers for their school as well as a Team GB goody bag!
