Some of our talented athletes in Year 7 recently took part in an athletics competition at Rockingham Triangle Sports Stadium, competing against students from nine other schools in the Corby and Kettering district.
Students took part in traditional track and field events which included the 100m, 200m, 800m, 1500m, 100x4 relay, javelin, discus, shot putt, long jump and hurdles.
Brooke Weston Academy PE teacher, Lewis Bailey said, ‘The day was a fantastic experience for both students and staff. It was great to see the students performing on the track and field events and giving their all. The day was well organised and the students tried their ultimate best. We were lucky enough to have some great results; Olivier Wieczorek won the discus event, Beau Tilaks won the Javelin and Harlee Hooker came second in the 1500m and they will all now progress to the county finals.’
