Year 9 student and talented athlete, Maggie Gancheva, qualified to represent Brooke Weston Academy and Northamptonshire at the English Schools Athletics competition in Manchester on 8th July. She was competing in the U15 Junior Girls category and was up against the best students from around the country.
Maggie, who competed in the 800m, came 4th in her heat and said, ‘The times in my heat were really fast and some were quicker than the girls who made it through from the other heats to the final. Overall it was a great experience for me as it was a big event and it felt very professional as we stayed in a hotel overnight as well as having use of a holding room before the event which was very different as usually I just go straight out on to the track and race. I will be concentrating on training now for the 1500m in the Nationals taking place at the end of the summer.’
