BBC Visits Brooke Weston

BBC celebrates 100 years with their Share Your Story visit to BWA

Brooke Weston Academy was delighted to welcome inspiring staff from the BBC who have been visiting schools across the UK on their 'Share Your Story' tour to mark its centenary in 2022.

Students in Year 8, 9 and 10 listened to Rory Boyle, a Production Coordinator with the BBC who shared his story about his experience of homophobia and online danger, while Broadcast Journalist with Radio Wiltshire, Kelly Morgan spoke to the students about reinventing herself after injury, and her journey to the BBC through the military, sport and now journalism.

Careers Advisor and MFL teacher, Amber Colquhoun, who led the visit, said, ‘Students engaged really well with the sessions and articulated their questions in a kind and sensitive manner. A huge thank you to the BBC team who commented on how welcoming BWA was, how attentive the students were and said they were very impressed with the quality of questions from our students. Thank you to everyone involved for ensuring the day ran smoothly.’
