BWA takes part in the LightBulb Mental Health Roadshow
Brooke Weston Academy is proud to announce that we are taking part in a week-long mental health initiative for students, which teachers, parents and carers can also participate in.
To mark Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week, which runs from 6th-12th February, Brooke Weston has signed up to take part in the LightBulb Mental Health Roadshow.
The initiative is hosted by the LightBulb team from the St Andrew’s College, who are based at St Andrew’s Healthcare, a mental health charity based in Northampton. The initiative provides schools with mental health awareness and support training as well as sessions for both students and parents/carers. Each session talks about symptoms, support and signposts available resources.
Activities for our students in school include a 'Connecting with Music' session as well as a whole Year 9 mental health talk.
Over the course of the week parents and carers are invited to take part in free online sessions, which you can join at your own convenience. Please sign up here and take advantage of these free mental health sessions.
Chery Smith, Lightbulb Founder and Headteacher of the St Andrew’s Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) College said, ‘We firmly believe in the power of prevention, which is why we launched LightBulb as we want to help young people better understand the way their mind works, so they can reach out and ask for help when they need it. What LightBulb does is also educate the teachers, parents and carers so they too can learn to spot the signs.
We hope your school recognises the benefit of our Roadshow which promises to be interactive, educational, and fun.’
