Admission into Brooke Weston Academy
Making the decision to chose the right school for your child can seem a daunting task. At Brooke Weston, our team are always willing to answer any questions and help make the process as smooth, welcoming and uncomplicated as possible at our Year 7 and Sixth Form entry.
If you are applying for entry into year groups during the academic year please see the 'In Year' move sections below.
Testing will not go ahead for next year’s BWT secondary intake
Traditionally those applying to Brooke Weston Academy, Corby Business Academy, Corby Technical School and Kettering Science Academy are invited, by the Brooke Weston Trust, to take part in a non-verbal reasoning test to ensure that each school has a balanced intake of students of all abilities.
This year, due to the national lockdown the normal method of assembling hundreds of students for testing in December was not considered to be practical or safe.
The Trust held a consultation for parents and applied to the Department for Education and Regional Schools Commissioner for places to be allocated for the 2021 intake without the fair banding element of assessment.
Please see letter below for more details and another answering some of the frequently asked questions during the consultation.
In Year Applications
Applications for 'in year moves' need to be applied for through the local authority. The below link will take you to the to the application forms as well as give you more information about the process. Please be aware that places are allocated according to space in the requested year group.
Please also note, we do not hold waiting lists for students in Years, 7 (Jan onwards of that academic year), 8,9,10 & 11. Applications can be submitted through the process explained above.
Appeals for In Year Applications
Appeals for in-year applications will be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged. Appellants do not have the right to a second appeal in respect of the Academy for the same academic year unless, in exceptional circumstances, the Academy has accepted a second application from the appellant because of a significant and material change in the circumstances of the parent, child or Academy but the applicant is still refused admission. Appellants may apply for a place in the Academy in respect of a later academic year and have a further right of appeal if that application is unsuccessful.
If you have any questions regarding Appeals please contact Miss Alison Ralph at Brooke Weston Academy. In order to submit an In-Year Appeal please complete one of the forms below.
