To parents and carers of Year 11 and Year 13 students

If you are feeling concerned about how COVID-19 may affect your child’s future, this course may be of use to you. We have sourced a FREE eight-week career choice course, taught live to help your child work out their next steps (and yours too). This course is supported by some of the UK’s top experienced and qualified careers professionals.

Over the next 8 weeks, this programme will be available to guide and support young people with gaining essential employability skills with activities, live videos and ‘meet the experts’ sessions along the way.

The course can be accessed here:

Careers & Alumni: Our Vision

Updated: 08/10/2020

Our careers provision aims to empower all students and guide both parents and employers to help them make confident, impartial and informed choices about their future career options. Regardless of background, our approach focuses on providing purpose, direction and opportunities to all our students. Enabling them to flourish as individuals, become highly employable and achieve personal and economic wellbeing throughout their lives.

We fully endorse the Gatsby Benchmarks and use them to guide, plan and monitor the effectiveness of our careers programme. As part of our commitment to informing our students of the full range of learning and training pathways on offer to them, we welcome requests from training, apprenticeship and vocational education providers to speak to our students via assemblies or during our annual careers fair. In addition, we also organise opportunities to speak with students and parents on a one-to-one basis, supporting GCSE, post 16 or post 18 option choices.

Our careers provision is constantly evolving. For example, we are the first Trust school to have invested in Unifrog. An online, one-stop-shop where all KS3-KS4-KS5 students can easily explore career pathways, universities across the world and live apprenticeship opportunities via their mobile devices 24/7. Ensuring each student receives individual, impartial and detailed advice on their next steps beyond Brooke Weston.

We are keen to showcase the broad and diverse range of career opportunities our students experience across the curriculum via our Twitter feed https://twitter.com/BWCareersLeader and Careers Leader Newsletter available below. In addition, we are in the early stages of developing our Alumni LinkedIn profile https://www.linkedin.com/in/brooke-weston-alumni-37b033188/ and welcome the opportunity to hear from any of our former students, especially those from our early cohorts.
