PSHE
What We Do
At Brooke Weston Academy, our PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) curriculum is a vital part of shaping well-rounded, confident, and socially responsible individuals. It reflects our core values: ambition, resilience, excellence, and ownership—and serves as a foundation for lifelong success.
The curriculum is structured around three core themes:
- Health and Wellbeing
- Relationships
- Living in the Wider World
These themes are revisited each year through a spiral curriculum, allowing students to build on prior knowledge and adapt to their developmental stages.
- Key Stage 3 (Years 7–9)
Health and Wellbeing: Mental health, substance misuse, managing risks, puberty and reproduction.
Relationships: Consent, healthy relationships, bullying, discrimination, online behaviour.
Living in the Wider World: Careers education, financial capability, media influence, community roles.
- Key Stage 4 (Years 10–11)
Health and Wellbeing: Managing stress, sexual health, health services, body image.
Relationships: Relationship values, abuse, coercion, parenting, relationship breakdown.
Living in the Wider World: Work experience, financial decision-making, rights at work, global citizenship.
What We Are Proud Of
We’re proud of the way our students engage with PSHE and the positive impact it has on their personal development and wellbeing
What Makes Our PSHE Curriculum Special?
- Empowering Students
Our programme encourages students to take ownership of their learning and personal growth. Through engaging lessons and open discussions, they build resilience, confidence, and a strong sense of self.
- Building Moral and Social Awareness
We foster a culture of respect, empathy, and responsibility. Students explore topics such as mental health, relationships, financial literacy, and citizenship—helping them become thoughtful and informed members of society.
- Creating a Safe and Inclusive Environment
PSHE contributes to the calm, respectful atmosphere that defines Brooke Weston. Students feel supported and empowered to express themselves, ask questions, and grow in a safe space.
- Preparing for the Future
Whether it’s understanding healthy relationships, managing money, or navigating digital life, our curriculum equips students with the practical skills and knowledge they need to thrive in the modern world.
