What We Do
In Science, we aim to ignite curiosity about the world around us and help students develop a deep understanding of how it works. Our curriculum combines core knowledge with practical investigation, encouraging learners to think critically, solve problems, and apply concepts to real-life situations. We provide a balance of biology, chemistry, and physics, ensuring students build the skills and confidence needed for success in exams and beyond. Lessons are designed to be engaging and hands-on, with regular opportunities for practical experiments, discussion, and independent enquiry. We also emphasise scientific literacy, helping students to evaluate information, make informed decisions, and appreciate the role of science in society.
What We Are Proud Of
We are proud of our students’ enthusiasm for science and the high levels of engagement seen in lessons and extracurricular activities. Many of our students go on to pursue STEM subjects at A-level and beyond, a testament to their passion and the solid foundations built in our department. Our team of dedicated staff bring expertise, creativity, and care to their teaching, and we work collaboratively to ensure every student feels supported to achieve their potential.
What Our Ambitions Are
Our ambition is to inspire every student to see science not just as a subject, but as a way of understanding and shaping the world. We want to continue raising attainment across all key stages while nurturing resilience, curiosity, and independence. We aim to expand our enrichment offer, giving more students access to STEM careers insights, competitions, and real-world applications of science. We want all students to be able to identify science in their every day lives, and we want all students to succeed.
