Modern Foreign Languages
What We Do
In the MFL department at BWA, we offer students the opportunity to learn and appreciate other languages and cultures. Our curriculum is designed to build confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, while fostering intercultural understanding. Through engaging lessons, authentic materials, and interactive activities, we aim to make language learning both meaningful and enjoyable.
What We Are Proud Of
We’re proud of the enthusiasm our students show for language learning and the progress they make in developing real-world communication skills. A particular highlight is our Brooke Weston Academy Language Leaders enrichment programme, where some of our students take on leadership roles by planning and delivering language activities to younger pupils. This initiative helps our students to build confidence, to develop communication skills in practice, and a deeper understanding of language pedagogy. We also enjoy a collaborative link with Oakley Vale Primary Academy, supporting their Little Interpreters programme and helping to foster early interest in languages. We’re also proud of our consistently strong GCSE and A-level results, which reflect the hard work of our students and the dedication of our teaching team.
What Our Ambitions Are
Our ambition is to continue expanding the linguistic and cultural horizons of our students. We want every student to leave school with a strong foundation in a foreign language and have the confidence to use it in their future studies, careers, and travels. A ticket for life!
