To begin a programme of Level 3 KS5 study at Brooke Weston Academy, you will need to meet the entry requirements. You will also need a good ‘Attitude to Learning’ score during Year 11. Some courses may additionally require a particular GCSE grade in their subject. More information on admissions can be found on our dedicated Sixth Form section.

Further Education Colleges offer a wide range of Level 1, Level 2 (equivalent to GCSE) and Level 3 programmes of study.

T Levels are a post-GCSE qualification designed to help students take their first steps toward a chosen career. Ideal for those who are keen to pursue a skilled profession, enjoy hands-on learning, and prefer a classroom-based environment, these two-year programmes combine academic study with practical experience. Developed in collaboration with employers and inspired by leading global technical education models, T Levels equip students with the essential knowledge, skills, and workplace experience that businesses value.

A structured programme is in place to help students explore and evaluate the most suitable post-18 education and career pathways. Early planning activities help shape the support offered, ensuring it reflects individual aspirations and interests.

Students receive personalised guidance—both in group settings and one-to-one meetings—on applying to a wide range of universities, including competitive institutions such as Oxford, Cambridge, and members of the Russell Group. Alternatives such as degree apprenticeships are also considered, offering a broader view of available options.

Support is provided throughout the application process, including help with researching opportunities, arranging relevant work experience and volunteering to build employability skills, and crafting strong UCAS personal statements. Interview preparation is also included, alongside a varied programme of guest speakers, workshops, and educational visits covering themes in personal development, health, careers, and social education.

Student Finance:

Apprenticeships are available at different levels and specific entry requirements will depend on the role and sector.

Age 16+:

  • Intermediate Level 2 (equivalent to 5 GCSE passes)
  • Advanced Level 3 (equivalent to 2 A level passes)

Age 18+ :

  • Higher Level 4 – 6 (Foundation degree or above)
  • Degree Level 6 – 7 (Bachelors or Masters degree)

An apprenticeship is a genuine job and under all circumstances you should be employed from day one. Apprenticeships combine practical training in a job with study. You must be proactive in sourcing your apprenticeship.

As an apprentice, you will work alongside experienced staff, earn a wage and holiday pay. Yo will gain job-specific skills and time for study related to your role (the equivalent of one day a week).
